The purpose of this league is to teach players the basics of the draft format. DETAILS Every Friday starting May 5th going through May 26th Sign ups start at 4:30, Seatings 5pm Price: $15 Format: • 1 hour for draft and build (this may decrease as the league continues and returning players learn the format). • Casual free play to test out your decks against other players in your pod. Prizes: Each participant will receive one pack of Amonkhet after playing at least one match with their drafted deck. MORE ABOUT DRAFT Draft is a “limited” format, meaning you do not come with a preconstructed deck. You will be sat with 5 to 7 other players, with at least one experienced player, and given 3 packs. Each person in your group, or “pod”, will open your first packs simultaneously. You will each choose one card from the pack, and pass the pack. You will then choose a card from the pack passed to you. You will continue to choose a card until the 1st packs are completely gone. You will do the same for the 2nd and 3rd packs. Once all the packs have been drafted, each player builds a deck from the cards they have selected. You may add as many basic lands (Plains, Islands, Swamps, Mountains, and Forests) to your deck as you’d like, but each deck must have at least 40 cards. The experienced player(s) in each pod will be available to answer questions and offer advice throughout the drafting and building processes. A basic understanding of the rules and play of Magic: The Gathering will be necessary to participate in this league. The purpose of the league is to familiarize players with: • Choosing your cards quickly with an eye to the deck you will eventually build • Reviewing the options that are available to you as packs continue around the table • Evaluating mechanics/cards and their relative strengths in the limited format • Knowing how many lands you need to include in a limited, multi-color deck • Strategies and combos in the current draft format
